COMBAT LIFESAVER COURSE
ATRRS COURSE NUMBER: CLC
Purpose: To train a nonmedical soldier to provide emergency
care as a secondary mission. While the primary mission of the combat
lifesaver is the combat mission, the soldier receives training in enhanced
first aid procedures and in selected medical procedures such as initiating
an intravenous infusion.
Pre-requisites:
The soldier must be enrolled in ATRRS 60 days prior to course start date in order
to attend. The reason for this is so correspondence books that are required
for the course may be ordered. A list must be sent to Fort Sam Houston,
TX and Newport News, VA NLT 60 days out.
Orders/Pre-execution Checklist - Soldiers
must bring a copy of their orders/pre-execution checklist dated
October 2004 AND 233
Regiment
In-Processing/Medical Sheet to attend
this course. The pre-execution checklist will be completed by appropriate
unit personnel, verified and signed by the unit commander. Soldier must
have a signed pre-execution checklist in his/her possession upon arrival to scheduled
class. Soldiers must meet height and weight requirements of AR 600-9.
Equipment - None.
Academy Environment - Students are not required
to stay overnight. However, academy standards are maintained.
Location - Students report to the General
Instruction Building (GIB - Bldg 17301) NLT 0800 hours on start date of course,
in the authorized Army Physical Fitness Uniform. After in processing
you will change into BDU's.
Unit Responsibility - Units are responsible
for their soldier's pay, orders, ATRRS information, travel to and from training,
and fuel for military vehicles.
